1 Cup Broken Wheat

1/4 Cup Moong dal

Salt to taste

Vegetables of your choice (I used onion, carrot and beans)

A pinch of turmeric powder,

1/4 Tsp Coriander powder

1/4 Tsp Chilli powder

1/4 Tsp Ginger-Garlic paste

A little Chopped Coriander leaves

  1. Dry roast broken wheat and moong dal in a pressure cooker (you can use a little clarified butter also) till lightly brown.
  2. Add all the remaining ingredients and water.
  3. Pressure cook till is soft and mushy.


You can exclude the spices as per your baby’s taste. My baby is more than a year old so I have added the spices. And also you can blend it a little if your baby is younger.

You can add as many vegetables as your baby likes or make a plain one as well. This way your baby gets to eat the vegetables. I have used only one type of dal which cooks easily but You can use other previously soaked dals to make a healthy meal.

Its a wholesome meal even for adults. And tastes delicious too.. 🙂
