Rice and lentil soup

10 days of ramzan have already passed by.. but not a day without this soup. Right after breaking the fast the soup is served either with samosa’s or vada’s . Today i’m  going to make vada to go with the soup. It makes an awesome combination. The soup is so comforting! Everyone must try!

Rice and lentil soup:

  • 5 tbsp rice rawa
  • 3 tbsp moong dal
  • Little coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 or 2 green chilli slit (only if you like )
  • ½ tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-2 tbsp oil
  • A little mutton kheema  for the non vegetarian version

I’m going to make the non vegetarian version here. You can skip it if you want!

  1. In a pressure cooker add little oil and fry the onions until translucent.
  2. Fry the kheema until it changes colour.
  3. Fry the dal till its nicely roasted (this gives an amazing flavor)
  4. Now fry ginger garlic paste and add green chillies.
  5. Now add washed and soaked rice rawa and salt.
  6. Add water as per the consistency you like and pressure cook until well done.
  7. Finally add the coriander leaves.

Vada:

  • 1 cup channa dal soaked and coarsely ground.
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 big onion finely chopped
  • Little coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • A pinch of turmeric
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • Oil for frying

Direction

  1. Mix all the ingredients for vada .
  2. Make them into small patties  .
  3. Fry until golden brown.

Ready to serve!
